John Welsh: John brings a 'welch' of knowledge to Access Sales with 25 years of experience in the grocery industry, 15 years of that as a Category Manager with Loblaw West. Having worked as both a retailer and broker, he has developed a long list of strong relationships with most national and regional retailers. John is well respected by his colleagues and clients for the honesty and integrity that he has displayed in his many roles. John prides himself in being the “problem solver” - with a get it done right mentality and a drive to succeed - that shines through in his work. John’s friends and clients will all tell you that his sense of humor and genuine good nature make him someone you can’t help but enjoy being around.

Steve Dietrich: Steve is a leader in Retail Operations, with experience in many diversified aspects of the grocery industry including Stores, Head Office, CPG company and Broker Business. He has successfully executed many Retailer Focused Initiatives and has a strong understanding of how retail really works. Having developed strong relationships at the retail store level, he prides himself as being the one to unlock the answers and get things rolling. Steve handles all aspects of our StockAID system and utilizes it alongside the retail team to produce timely information for our partners.

Brian Wright: Brian is a Senior Sales Executive with a solid track record of success in developing business and marketing new products in the Food and Beverage industry. Proven leadership skills and excellent judgment in managing people and situations. He has dealt with all of the major and smaller customers across the country. Brian gained his experience from multinational companies/medium size and small regional manufacturers. His customer experience was gained from calling on all channels and is now focussed on the BC region.

John Speirs: John has over 35 years of experience in the grocery brokerage business building brands for principals and working with large national and regional retailers. He started his own brokerage firm in 1987 and because of his passion, honesty and drive still represents some of those same brands to this very day. Having built brands from concept to shelf, John has developed long term relationships with both principals and retailers over his many years in the grocery industry. His commitment to the success of both our principals and their brands is unparalleled. He is the visionary behind the design of StockAID, a system engineered to automate our many business functions, which we use every day for ordering, distribution, auditing and management reporting. His friends and clients refer to him as “Truckload Johnny” with his proven track record for getting even the hardest job done.

Our Team: Across Western Canada, we pride ourselves in our grass roots experience, bringing to bear bottom-up research that stems from our access to competitive markets and customer feedback, both at the store level and head offices of our chain partnerships.

Retail Coverage
We have a dedicated retail team, with reps covering all of Western Canada. The field team regularily visits banner and independent stores in Grocery, Mass, Club, and Drug & Specialty. Our team has become outstanding in-store champions with increased call frequencies, strong customer relationships, timely feedback, and distribution reporting. It's our ability to unlock potential and gain access at the store level that elevates us above other agencies and sales outsourcing companies in the eyes of our principals.

For over 20 years, we have been utilizing and refining our own leading-edge web-based software (now with mobile integration!) that empowers our brands and our people. With StockAID and our AccessScanner iOS App, we can update and track distribution shortfalls and pricing changes, check facings, in-stock status, shelf tags, and track competitive info in real time. This allows us access to key detailed activity by store, banner, and region, unlocking essential insights into new opportunities and possible gaps in the market.
Field Communication
Daily communication is essential between Account Managers and our retail teams. We ensure that information is constantly flowing within the entire company. Our Field communication is sent out regularily to all reps (and is always available in-App!), to ensure they are up-to-date and aware of all new priorities, upcoming and current promotions, requests, and competitive info.
Executive Reports
We require each Rep to complete an Executive Summary that unlocks their insights at the store level on a weekly basis. Complete with photos, specific comments, and competitive information, we collate all info from our ‘feet on the street’ to ensure our principals are best served.
